Terms of service
These Terms & Conditions apply to orders placed with The Colour Atelier through our website. By placing an order, you agree to these terms together with our Shipping Policy, Returns & Refunds Policy and Privacy Policy.
1. Placing an Order
Please check all product details, quantities, options and delivery information carefully before placing your order.
Once your order has been successfully placed, you will receive an order confirmation by email.
If we are unable to fulfil your order for any reason, we will contact you as soon as possible and refund any payment made for items we cannot supply.
2. Personalisation
Many of our products are personalised and made to order.
After ordering, you may be asked to complete a personalisation questionnaire providing details such as names, dates, venue information, wording, colour preferences, guest lists and any other information required to create your stationery.
You are responsible for ensuring the information you provide is complete and accurate.
If information is missing, incorrect or supplied late, your production timeframe may be delayed.
3. Artwork & Proof Approval
For personalised stationery, we will provide digital artwork for your approval before printing or production begins.
Your order includes your initial personalised artwork plus one round of amendments, unless otherwise stated. Further amendments may be subject to an additional design fee.
You are responsible for carefully checking all wording, spelling, grammar, names, dates, times, addresses and other details shown on your final proof.
Once you approve your artwork, you are confirming that it is correct and ready for production.
We cannot accept responsibility for customer-supplied errors that were visible within artwork you approved. If an error has been made by The Colour Atelier, we will of course put this right.
Changes requested after final approval may not be possible and may incur additional design, print or production costs.
4. Production Times
Production times are separate from delivery times and begin once all required personalisation information has been received and your final artwork has been approved.
Estimated production times may vary between products, particularly for hand-finished, specialist or bespoke pieces.
If your order contains products with different production times, the longest applicable timeframe may determine when your complete order is dispatched.
If you require your stationery by a particular date, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether your timeframe is possible.
5. Colours, Materials & Handmade Details
We make every effort to represent our colours and products accurately online. However, screen settings and devices can display colours differently, and printed colours may vary slightly from their digital representation.
For this reason, we strongly recommend ordering a sample pack if you would like to experience our papers, colours and finishes in person before placing your main order.
Many Colour Atelier pieces are hand-cut, hand-finished or created using natural or specialist materials. Small variations in paper, print, foiling, ribbon, wax seals, natural shells, hand-finishing or other materials are part of their individual character and are not considered faults.
6. Product Images
Product photography is intended to represent the design, proportions, materials and overall appearance of our products as accurately as possible.
Styling props, flowers, tableware, frames, stands or other items shown within photography are not included unless specifically stated within the relevant product description.
7. Customer-Supplied Images, Artwork & Content
Where you provide photographs, illustrations, logos, artwork, wording or other material for us to reproduce, you confirm that you have the necessary permission or rights to use that material.
You are responsible for ensuring that anything supplied to us does not infringe another person's copyright, trade mark or other intellectual property rights.
The quality of printed customer-supplied imagery will depend on the quality and resolution of the files provided.
8. Intellectual Property
All original Colour Atelier designs, layouts, illustrations, artwork, photography, copy and creative content remain the intellectual property of The Colour Atelier unless otherwise agreed in writing.
All concepts, preliminary artwork, proofs and design development created by The Colour Atelier remain our intellectual property, whether or not they form part of the final product purchased.
Purchasing stationery does not transfer ownership or reproduction rights to the underlying design.
Our designs may not be copied, reproduced, altered, resold, commercially exploited or provided to another supplier for reproduction without our prior written permission.
9. Prices & Payment
The price payable is the price displayed at checkout when your order is placed.
Payment must be made in full using one of the payment methods available at checkout unless alternative payment terms have been agreed with us in writing.
We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. Any changes will not affect orders that have already been accepted.
If an obvious pricing error occurs on our website, we reserve the right to contact you before fulfilling the affected order and either offer the product at the correct price or cancel and refund the order.
10. Delivery
Delivery charges and available services are shown at checkout.
Any delivery estimate relates to the delivery journey after dispatch and does not replace or shorten our design and production timeframe.
International orders may be subject to import duties, taxes or customs charges imposed by the destination country. These are the responsibility of the recipient.
Full delivery information can be found in our Shipping Policy.
11. Cancellations, Returns & Refunds
Because personalised products are created specifically for you, different cancellation and return rights apply to personalised and non-personalised goods.
Once personalised artwork or design work has begun, cancellations are no longer accepted.
Once final artwork has been approved or production has begun, no further changes or cancellations can be made.
Please see our Returns & Refunds Policy for full details.
12. Events Outside Our Control
Occasionally, circumstances outside our reasonable control may affect production or delivery. These could include courier disruption, postal disruption, supplier delays, extreme weather, technical failures or other unforeseen events.
Where this happens, we will take reasonable steps to minimise the impact and keep you informed where appropriate.
13. Our Liability
Nothing within these Terms excludes or limits any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under UK consumer law.
We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from an order where it would be unlawful or unreasonable for us to be held responsible.
Our products are supplied primarily for personal and private use. We are not responsible for business losses resulting from the commercial or resale use of our products.
14. Privacy
We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The terms applicable to your purchase will be those published on our website when you place your order.
16. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
